a father’s love

I have an old black and white photograph of me with my father. I am a toddler, wearing frilly baby pants and lacy socks. My dad, in his white dress shirt with rolled-up sleeves, balances me upright in his outstretched hand, holding both of my feet in his palm. Our eyes are locked in trust. I have always been grateful to have this photograph, a reminder of how my father held me safely, teaching me balance, independence and trust. Thanks, Dad.

Just this past week I photographed my friend Tim and his family for a Father’s Day portrait. I love this photo, among several. Click here to see more. When his daughter has grown up I hope these photographs will remind her of a special moment in time. And of what her father means to her. Happy Father’s Day to dads everywhere!
